Analzying Agriculture and Hunger Donor Aid Effectiveness

Zero Hunger Aid is a research project, based on a great economic metric to measure donor aid effectiveness for Global Hunger and Food Security.

ZERO HUNGER AID

Zero Hunger Aid tracks investments to combat hunger – as called for in the Sustainable Development Goals’ Zero Hunger challenge (SDG2).

  • We focus on donor investments to agricultural development using SDG 2 targets and generating our own evidence base.
  • We track the overall amount of aid being devoted to agriculture and whether donors are on track to meet funding levels needed to achieve SDG 2.
  • We focus on quality of aid to agriculture, using three dimensions of efficiency, utility and transparency.
  • We also organize Zero Hunger investments from the receiving country’s point of view.

Our aim is to generate dialogue and advocacy on SDG2 investments, which lead to more and better funding for agricultural development, nutrition and sustainable rural development.

SDG 2 calls for monitoring donor aid to achieve zero hunger by 2030

SDG 2 calls for monitoring donor aid to achieve zero hunger by 2030.

This data can be tracked annually.  However, no official agency, or any civil society organization or private sector group tracks this data, as called for by the SDGs.

Moreover, there is very little discussion on the level of aid needed to achieve SDG2.  Using existing evidence base and modeling, we have created annual levels of aid needed to achieve SDG2.  These are conservative estimates, which we hope will help donor agencies, advocacy groups and others to increase funding to combat hunger.

Coupled with the quality metrics, our ultimate aim is to improve the quality and quantity of Zero Hunger Aid.
